Topic: New Year Old You?
Bible Reading : Behold. I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
How many times have you made the same New Year resolutions, only to realise that you have already re-turned to your old ways by half-year? Many people are tired of making New Year resolutions for this very reason; they just don’t seem doable!
You’ll ex-perience struggles when resolutions are anchored on your capacity and self-will only. When speaking of change, the Bible talks about re-pentance. Repentance is different from resolving.
Repentance is to change from within: it is changing who you are. Who you are determines what you do, and until there is a new you, resolving to do some-thing new may not last. If you have not been able to follow through on your resolutions, you need to focus more on who you are instead of what you do.
Focusing on reading the Bible more may not be suc-cessful. But focusing on becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ, through the help of the Holy Spirit will lead you to study and meditate on His Word.
This year, focus on BECOMING the person God wants you to be.
Confession: This year, I am becoming all that I am meant to be in Christ.
