The True Blessing Of The Lord – Past Yinka Akinyosoye

THEME: HE ALONE MAKETH RICH (Prov 10:22)

TOPIC: The TRUE blessing of the Lord

TEXT: Psalm 127:1-2

DATE: 08th of March, 2017

INTRODUCTION

As Christians, once we give our lives to Jesus, there is an immediate transformation. This implies destiny change. Ownership has changed and curses has become blessing. However, we need a clear understanding of what the bible means in Prov. 10:22. The blessing of the Lord is God’s actual and original plan for all his children. This was clearly declared in Gen. 1:26-28. The adversary has a different program.

  1. SOURCES OF SPIRITUAL BLESSING. EPH 1:3
  • He blesses us with ALL spiritual blessings.
  • Spiritual blessings precedes all other blessings.
  • Because we are spiritual beings, we need spiritual blessings.

      2. HE PROVIDES MATERIAL BLESSINGS. MATT. 6:24-34

We need material blessings to stay alive and serve him. God is interested in our material blessings as much as our spiritual blessing. While it is important to put God first (spiritual blessing), materially we must enjoy Him without being anxious about the stuff we need. Jesus is a perfect example of this. Always putting the spiritual first and the course of the father first.

3.THE BLESSINGS OF GOD ARE NEVER SMALL. PS. 34:5-7

God is the creator of all things, even the devil but not as devil. He is not a small God and must be seen as such.

4.THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD ACCUMULATE

Getting to the top is a gradual process- God is very organized and procedural in His approach (Ps. 139:17-18) even at creation. (Discuss the process of creation).

5.GOD’S BLESSINGS NEVER BRING SORROW. PROV. 10:22

Because He knows the end from the beginning and He knows and can do all things, there is no way His blessings can bring sorrow. Sometimes what appears as pains, are actually a blessing in disguise. Sorrow is from the Hebrew word “etseb” which means worry or hurt. If you trust God for wealth, you will not be anxious like the man in Matthew 7.

CONCLUSION:

The greatest blessing comes to mind when we meditate on Eph. 2:8-9. The best illustration is in salvation. What is your contribution to your salvation program or plan- absolutely nothing!

We are saved by sovereign grace to which the toil or effort of man can add absolutely nothing. If He can save you, He can meet your needs beyond your expectations. It is all of grace, not of works, lest any man should boast.
