David, King David. He was a man after God’s heart. Hmmmm…

There are so many virtues to pick up from this beautiful and great personality. I have been doing a study on the life of David and it’s been so refreshing, so revealing and I am so blessed by it.

I want to share just 2 things about this wonderful character.. Out of several other things.

  1. David was not a bitter person.

~A bitter person is someone who harbours resentment. *Bitterness is poison, it’s a pollutant… It pollutes and defiles a person before God. So a true worshipper is someone free of bitterness or bitter spirit. Someone who forgives and easily let go of hurts.

David had the opportunity of killing Saul more than once but he never did. Despite Saul’s hatred for David, He showed King Saul love. Reading through 1Samuel and 2Samuel, this fact is evident. David’s approach to predicaments is really a challenging one and a very good example to follow. He would rather live things to God and the presence of God was with Him and for this the Bible records that He was successful at all he did.

  1. David asked God questions a lot. He inquired of the Lord often. He never assumed at crucial times, He was bold and confident but his confidence was in God. He asked God for direction and God responded to him.

1Samuel 30:8
“Then David asked the LORD, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the LORD told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!”

He asked the Lord severally and carried out instructions perfectly, therefore he had good success.

This is another great quality a true worshipper and a child of God must have. Sometimes we preempt God and wrongly, we fail to inquire like David did severally. We take laws into our hands and mess things up.

And I said to my self, should I just continue doing things anyhow or should I inquire of my Father? God what would you have me do?

Also, as a child of God, will I continue to hold on to hurts unnecessarily while lifting holy hands? Whom am I deceiving? #myself

Can you please take a cue from David. Shun bitterness and always seek directions from God. Romans 8:14 says “as many as are led by the spirit of God are the some of God”.

God bless you more.
